HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year to everyone and welcome back.  We hope you have had a restful break and that everyone is ready for the Spring Term.  Diary dates for the new term are on the calendar page.  Please note that they may be subject to change but we will give you as much notice as possible.

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

This term, Collective Worship on Wednesdays and Thursdays will continue to be led by each class in turn.  Next week Class 7 will lead for us, using our Mission Statement ‘Caring Christians’.

ADVENT PRAYER BAGS

Thank you very much for the thoughtful contributions to our Advent Prayer Bags last term.  We are enjoying sharing the prayers written at home by everyone.

PRIMARY ADMISSIONS

If you have a child starting primary school this September, please note that the closing date for applications is next Monday – Jan 15th.

MINI VINNIES – MARY’S MEALS

Thank you to everyone who sent in donations for the Mary’s Meals class collection boxes.  In total, £86 was raised.  The prize for the class who raised the most went to Class 6 who collected a whopping £46!  Mini Vinnie leaders have donated £20 for them to spend in class.  By raising £86 we are providing 15 meals for a full year!

COLD WEATHER CLOTHING

As we play out whenever possible, please ensure that your child has a warm coat with a hood this term.  If you wish your child to wear boots or wellies to walk to school in, please make sure that they have their school shoes with them to change into on arrival, or pumps.

FULL ATTENDANCE WINNERS

Well done to everyone who had full attendance for the Autumn Term.  The following winners were picked out of the hat in Collective Worship – Joseph Wilkinson, Stephen Laing and Dominic Walker.  Well done! Please remember that everyone who has full attendance for the whole year is entered into our annual raffle to win a bike!

FIRE SAFETY TALKS

Fire Fighters will be in school on Monday morning to give fire safety talks to children in Yr2 and Yr6.

DINNER MONEY

Please note that dinner money can only be accepted on Mondays.  It is very helpful if money is sent into school in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and the amount enclosed.  Thank you.

CLASS WRITER AND TROPHY WINNERS

Well done to all our winners last year, we look forward to seeing who wins this year.  We will continue to award the Golden Boot to the classes with the most number of walkers and we will continue with our Weekly Attendance Trophy for the class with the best attendance.

Thank you to parents and carers for their support in continually improving attendance and punctuality at St John’s.
