School faith-life

To begin the new half-term, Classes 9 and 1 will lead Collective Worship for us.  As it is Mass on 1st November, our theme will be All Saints.

Home- Start

Home-Start provide support and friendship for families in Burnley, Rossendale and Hyndburn.

They offer a free and confidential service, which provides non-judgemental practical and emotional help for parents and families.

School opening times

After half-term the gates to our yard will be locked until 8.30am, please do not bring/send children to school before 8.30 as we are not open until then.

Sports Report

Lots of pupils have been involved in a range of sports tournaments recently; dodgeball, football and multi-sports.  All of the pupils had fun and were well behaved.  They represented our school excellently and we are very proud of them.

Dinner money

Please can dinner money be paid on Mondays only – this will be a great help to our office staff.

Fire Safety Talks

Fire Fighters will be in school on 29th October to deliver fire safety talks to children in Yrs 2 & 6.

We look forward to hearing their important messages.

Please be reminded that after half-term, only children with an allocated place are able to attend.

Early collection

If you wish to collect children early to attend doctors appointments etc, please make sure you bring appointment cards in advance to the office.

(SEAL – Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)

This half-term our SEAL theme has been ‘New Beginnings.  Each class focussed on the following skills:

  • helping to make someone feel welcome
  • calming down in a difficult situation
  • solving a difficult problem
  • being brave by overcoming a fear

School staff nominated the following pupils who each received their certificate in assembly on Monday.  We are very proud of them.  Ours thanks go to Miss Cameron, our Learning Mentor and SEAL Leader in school for facilitating all of this good work.

Class 1: Grace Hayton – who is now very brave all day at school

Class 2: Mason Dutton – for always being happy and positive

Class 3: Nico Wilson – who is kind, polite and welcoming to everyone

Class 4: Alfie Marlborough – for calming down and making the right choices

Class 5: Callum Garnett-White – for having a positive attitude to learning

Class 6: Ryan Whittle – for showing kindness and being willing to give up something he wanted to help a situation by calming another pupil in school

Class 7: Jack Clarke – for taking part in class discussions and sharing his feelings

Class 8: Oliver Brown – who has shown he can calm down in difficult situations
