School faith-life

Next week, Class 9 will lead Collective Worship for us focussing on The Immaculate Conception.  Fr David joins us in school on Monday afternoon.

Class 4 Assembly

Family and friends of children in Class 4 are invited to school on Friday 7thDec when they will present their Assembly 10-10.30am.

PTFA Christmas Fayre

Please join us on Sun 2ndDec in the Parish Hall, 10.30am -12.30pm.  Refreshments including luxury hot choc, bacon butties and sausage sandwiches will be on sale.  Stalls will include: Choco Lotto; Bottle Tombola; Raffle; Christmas Crafts.  There will be a special visitor too!  See you there.  Thank you in advance to all our PTFA members.


Next week we enter Advent.  We are using Posada for the first time this year.  Originating in Hispanic countries, Posada reminds us of the Christmas story with the Holy Family travelling around the community spending one night at each house.  Please look after Mary, Joseph and the donkey if they visit you and return to school the next day.

Sports report

Last week, 6 Junior children from Year 4 went to Blessed Trinity RCC to take part in a dodgeball competition.  They had lots of fun and showed great team spirit.  Thank you for representing us so well, we are proud of you.

Assessment week

Next week is Assessment Week.  Children will undertake tests which, together with assessments from throughout the term, will inform teacher judgements. These will be shared with you in the coming weeks.

Mobile phones

Please be reminded that pupils are not allowed to bring mobile phones into school.  This is part of our safeguarding procedures at St John’s.

Applications for 2019 are still open, visit www.lancashire.gov.uk/schools.  Contact Mrs Mayor if you would like any support in applying.

Christmas productions

Tickets continue to be on sale (£1 each) for our Infant and Junior productions.  Due to lack of space, they are limited at first to 2 per family.

Violin lessons

If your child is interested in learning to play the violin, we currently have vacancies.  Lessons take place in school on Monday mornings.

They are subsidised by school so cost £30 per term.  Please contact the office if you would like more details.
