Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you are well and enjoyed the half-term break. We have had a lovely week in school with lots of hard work and some interesting events.
Today we have had chicks visiting Class 2 – thanks go to Mrs Hargreaves for organising this. On Tuesday and Thursday, children took part in a Multi-Sports Tournament organised by the Burnley Sports Partnership and we won gold in both events! Well done to Leo Knight, Patrick Bajek, Lexi Dickson Carter, Jessica Hawke, Libbie Moore, Sofia Alviz, David Brotherton and Eddie Sims in lower KS2. Well done to our upper KS2 winners: Catherine, Kimberley Yanos, Amelia Mansworth, Macey Wylie, Maisie Helps, Lewis McRandle, Ksawery Cegielka and Stephen Laing.
With sadness today we are saying goodbye and celebrating Mrs Drinkwater’s time with us at St John’s. She is retiring after serving the children and families of our school for 26 years. We wish her well and thank her for the dedication and love she has shown to all at St John’s.
Earlier in the week we celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi, remembering the wonderful gift of the Eucharist given to us by Jesus. Especially now, when social contact is limited due to the pandemic, we can feel how Jesus is with us in the most special and closest way each time we receive Holy Communion. Our friends in Yr 4 especially are in our thoughts and prayers as some of them are celebrating First Holy Communion in the next few weeks.
Please can I share the following Summer Term dates with you. We have tried to keep our full programme of summer events, adapting them to accommodate Covid-19 restrictions. At the moment, parents and carers will not be able to attend any of the events. If guidance changes and we are allowed to welcome visitors in large groups back to school, I will let you know. More information about each event will follow in the coming weeks.
