Welcome back everyone!

It’s lovely to start the new term and to see most children back in school.  Best wishes to those of you who are self-isolating. If you are poorly, we hope you get well soon.

This week’s Gospel

Luke 3:16

Someone is coming, said John, someone who is greater than I.  He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Reading Challenge

We’re delighted that by the end of last term, 75% of children have gained their first Reading Challenge award! Thank you for all your support and encouragement at home. We look forward to hearing which books children are enjoying this term.

Closing date for primary places for Sept 22

Remember that you must apply by Saturday 15th January if you have a child starting school in September this year.  If you need help, Mrs Thompson (Pupil and Family Support Manager) is happy to assist.  Please make sure you complete the supplementary information form too.

Online learning

If children are self-isolating but are well, work is available again on our website.  If you have any problems, please get in touch.

Health and well-being

On Thursday 20th January, we welcome the Yogi Group into school. Each class will have an introduction to yoga including mediation, breathing exercises and stretching as well as building up their resilience.

School Faith-life

CAFOD

We’re continuing, this term, to work towards our CAFOD Live Simply Award.  As part of this, CAFOD Officer Dominic Aunger will be in school to work with each class.  He will talk to children about Pope Francis’ message ‘Laudato Si’ which tells us to care for our world.

Feast of the Epiphany

Yesterday each class celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany with a service in class.  There are some lovely photos on Twitter.

Sports Events

Next week some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils are taking part in a tag rugby tournament at Sir John Thursby Community College.

Keeping safe online

www.internetmatters.org has lots of information for parents/carers about how to keep children safe online.  Please take a look.
